Gotye has been revealed as the most popular artist on Spotify in 2012 with his hit single 'Somebody That I Used To Know' topping the list for most streamed song in both the UK and the rest of the world.

The Australian singer-songwriter has achieved huge success with his single, first released in December 2011, with the song holding off Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe' and 'We Are Young' by Fun. in the rundown. Nicki Minaj ('Starships') and David Guetta ('Titanium') round off the top five most streamed songs in the UK while Flo Rida has the fourth and fifth most popular songs globally in the shape of 'Whistle' and 'Wild Ones' respectively.

Meanwhile, in the list of most popular bands, Coldplay came out on top ahead of Maroon 5, Fun, Mumford & Sons and Florence + The Machine.
